Healthy Eating Guide

Knowing what is and is not healthy can be confusing sometimes. Nowadays, there are so many different opinions on whether certain foods, diets, drinks, etc. are healthy or not. In order to make things a little more simple, here is a list of a few general rules to follow in order to have a healthy and beneficial diet.

1. Cut back on sugary drinks

Regular sodas and energy drinks take a toll on your heart, brain, teeth, skin, and many other body parts because of the amount of sugar added to them.

2. Eat a balanced breakfast every morning

A breakfast filled with whole grains, vitamins, protein, and low in sugar is a perfect way to start the day. This meal will not spike your blood sugar and will give you sustained energy throughout the day.

3. Eliminate processed foods from your diet

Your body was made to run on whole, natural foods.

4. Avoid the major categories of unhealthy foods

These include saturated fats, trans fats, added sugar, and added syrup.

5. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF

This could possibly be one of the worst thing you could do to your body. Food is fuel and it is vital for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

6. Calories are not everything

as long as you are eating way too much or way too little, I would not recommend tracking calories. As long as you are eating whole foods, do not worry about tracking your food.

7. Switch to whole grains

Whole-grain foods such as brown rice and oatmeal contain more nutrients and fiber than those without it. The complex carbs in them are healthier and will keep you more full for a longer period of time.

8. Water is your best friend

Water is what keeps the human body functioning. Whenever you can, drink a glass of water to quench your thirst.
